The former director of Epic Games declares that he tried to cancel Fortnite

Fortnite is at the top of the ranking for all the platforms on which it has walked almost as quickly as its beginnings. After two years, the former production manager of Epic Games admits that he did not give much attention to the game when he came out.

The game would not have exceeded my bar — Rod Ferguson

Mr. Ferguson, who currently leads the coalition that develops the Gears of War series, admits that he tried to close Fortnite before leaving Epic because, in his own words, the game had not exceeded his criteria. Even if it is unthinkable today so much newer sees the day, Ferguson said at the time that he seemed insufficient. His real words were:

How Epic Games Managed to Ruin Fortnite
If I stayed at Epic, I would have annulled Fortnite. Before leaving, I tried to cancel Fortnite. When it was Safe the World, this project involved some challenges. As Director of Production at the time, this game would not have exceeded my bar, and we should have continued to continue. »

On the other hand, Ferguson also declares that he has not had a negative reaction to the huge success of the game, despite his own impression. In fact, it is naturally happy with the success of its former peers and colleagues. Fortnite became one of the most popular games and won a great success, winning a place at the Epic Summit.
